Question about 997 trip computer
Hi, all. Looking to buy my first 911: a 2006 Carrera 2S. I've found a reasonably nice one at a local Porsche dealership, and the price is right. Turned in off lease, one owner, AutoCheck is clean. There's just one thing causing me concern: the odometer shows 38k miles, but when I looked at the trip computer, it was showing 81k miles/7400 hours driven.
1. Are there any issues with the trip computer that could cause it to read higher than the odometer? 2. Any other way this could be anything other than a rolled-back/replaced odometer? Car was fairly clean, otherwise--no excessive wear on the seats, paint looked like it was in good shape other than some rock chips, on the front bumper, no obvious fluid leaks, etc. |

Does all the service history tie up with the mileage?
You might want to check your readings again. 7400 hours driven is about 222,000 miles (hours x 30mph) usually works about right. It's under warranty, get the Porsche dealer to explain it to you.

Trip Computer
Go to the dealer where the car was serviced and they can print out all the history of the car which would also show the mileage at each time the car came into the shop.
