Hello, just thought I'd tap the "collective brain" of this forum before shotgunning parts at my car.
I had to leave my car out for a few days in the rain, and when I returned to fire it up, it ran really rough. I pulled the code and it said #1 mis-fire. I let it sit for a couple days and then drove it, and everything was fine until I was 10 minutes down the road, then same thing. So it wasn't water. Pulling it all apart, everything looks fine ( and dry) with the ignition system. Question: How can I test a coil, and are they a common culprit? Any other suggestions? Thanks, Chris |

Swap the suspect coil to another cylinder and see if the fault moves with it.
Yes, they do fail, updated part number now, so change all six.

Sorry to hear about issue. A Porsche only shop is the only option. Dealer or Indy. One coil would be available. Do you want to check the coil yourself? People will sell you one. Sounds like can diagnose if both fuel and spark are present, compression, and leakdown DIY. Has it always had premium fuel? Plugs been replaced? Have you ran Techron (or similar) through it regularly?
Regards,
