bellows for speed-activated spoiler

I just bought a 2000 996 a few days ago, and just now noticed a flaw. The bellows for the speed-activated rear spoiler is firmly attached to the movable spoiler but not to the deck lid. It appears that there are some fasteners that got removed and were not replaced. Can anyone advise as to what holds that down exactly? I've ordered manuals but they've not yet arrived. I wouldn't have noticed except that when I got out of the car this evening, part of the lower bellows was pinched between the spoiler and the deck lid. That can't be healthy for the electric motor, so I'd like to figure out what parts I need to fix it.

Somewhere in the tech articles someone wrote a decent article on the bellows.

The lower stamping has pins that go thru the bellow and then push washers go on the pins from the bottom of the deck lid.
For the top there is a metal stamping with fingers that goes over the bellows and thru it. then slides to the side to lock the bottom down. Plastic rivets lock it in place.

On my '99 the bellows were torn when I got it. I looked things over and then removed the whole bellows and stampings.

I haven't seen any problems, yet. And a new bellows is below the brake rotors, new pads, and service on the locking system on the fix and maintain list.

Anyone think we might hurt something running without it? seems pretty stable for short bursts in a straight line upto 113 :-)
I'm not brave or rich enough to chance a longer sprint.

That's informative -- thanks. I think I'll see if I can figure out which pins and washers I need for this. Meanwhile I'm pretty sure I rig something to prevent it from getting in the way. Removing it is probably the easiest way to deal with that temporarily.
