New Owner Needs Maintenance Advice w/ pic
![]() I just sold my 88 Targa and purchased this 04 C4S with 24,300 miles, and need some advice about maintenance. Maintenance records are sketchy at best. Looks like oil changes were done and one brake fluid change was done about 4 years ago at 16,000 miles. It also looks like most things were checked like brake pads and fluid levels, and but I can't find much else being changed. The car is in great shape and runs perfectly. I need to figure what is needed to get maintenance up to date. Here what I had on my list to do right away: Brake fluid change - dot 4 Air filter change Here is what I am not so sure about: Hydraulic Clutch fluid? (Clutch seems just a bit stiff but works fine.) Coolant? Spark plugs (with so little miles not sure this is needed) Am I missing anything? Appreciate all advice. Thanks!

spark plugs aren't until 30k, but wouldn't hurt to change them if they re original........
check the cabin and engine air filters clean out the water drains in the battery tray area (use compressed air not a ,.and more importantly the rear drains, remove the rear speakers (just 2 screws on the grills) and the drain is behind them....if these clog it'll fill the floor with water in the rain and destroy the alarm brain.....actuators...etc.... it looks pretty clean and unmolested, so every thing will probably check out ok... I would also change the gear oil do a fresh brake flush bring it up to temp with the a/c off and make sure the low speed fans come on...drive it good then let idle and they should kick on, you'll be waiting 30 minutes if it just idles to reach temp. I wouldn't mess with the clutch hydraulics unless the pedal isn't coming up coolant flush, wouldn't be a bad idea, use the porsche coolant, mix it accordingly for your climate. kinda rambling lol but I work on allot of 996s lol
