Cab full of water
After a all day rain I have a coworker contact me that my 2001 Cab has the windows down.
I knew I did not put the windows down so I go flying out and find the interior completely full of water and the computer under the rear passenger seat clicking away. I have disconnected the battery. Can anyone tell me how to get the seat portion that is under the cushion out so I can see what has happen to the computer? Don

on my 99 you need an E12 torx socket and your favorite female contortionist.
slide the seat forward and back to access the 4 front and rear nuts. unplug the sensor wires (not easy sometimes) and lift the whole seat out. I hear that the alarm system under the passenger seat will also need to be dried out. good luck. If you find a reason for the windows opening let us know. |

The windows opened because the relays for them are in the alarm module.....
Unfortunately I think you are going to have more than just a burned out alarm module, I'm a few cases I had to fix firsthand when the module was submerged out would activate the locks, over and over, which burned them all out, meaning both door latches, fuel door lock, and the lock which secures the cable releases for the hood and trunk. My advice it do get everything dried out, then check all the connectors for corrosion, clean accordingly. Most importantly you need to find out where the leak is.... It is most likely clogged rear drains.... Remove the rear speakers (2 torx20 screws) and there are little drain trays right behind each speaker....probably clogged with leaves.... I had one car where aftermarket stereo guys left a grommet out of place when they ran some wires, water would just pour in......

Where is the alarm module located? Is it under the drivers seat?

Ok I read back and see the alarm module is under the drivers seat. I think I can just feel it buried down in the carpet. I need to come up with a torx E12 to get the seat out.
