Question Transmission Rebuild Options

3.2 Carrera with 915 transmission is having the engine rebuilt. Syncros in 2 and 3 were getting weak. The transmission is being pulled out as I speak. While it is out, what should I get done to the tranny? Should I install the gateshift from wevo? Should I install a LSD? Anything else? The car is mainly going to be used for spirited weekend canyon carving and occasional autocross or trackdays.

Thanks in advance!

I believe the Wevo parts are excellent, and certainly won't harm anything. As with all modifications, how much do you want to spend?

They will only hurt my wallet! I don't mind spending the money if it is worth it. I guess I am trying to figure out if the gateshift or lsd are really worth the money for a car that won't get much track time.

Thanks!

Just had my 84 915 rebuilt by Jones Autowerks (picked it up today). New Guard LSD, new synchros, rings, etc, etc. $5,400 all in, but I now have complete piece of mind and a tough tranny behind the 3.6 going into my 74. This tranny had 133k on it, but must have lived a tough life.

How much of a difference does the LSD make during street driving?

I would do the gateshift before I'd do the LSD. IMO, the LSD is really more of a track thing, and a 'last few n/ths of a second' thing at that.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking this was the case. What do you think about the gateshift vs the wevo shifter vs the PSJ in terms of improving the shifting experience.
