Where are the relays for the flashers and turn signals located? And should the brake lights be active without the ignition keyed? Trying to sort out some electrical gremlins.

Speedo,

I have a 71T. I cannot tell you what/where the hazard relay is, but I hope the following will help. The relay in my car at the location you have in the picture (front by fuse block) has the following number on it 901 516 109.03.

If that is not it, I can look a little harder. There are many on this forum that know the answer, I hope they respond.

Good luck

Bob

In my '73 The brake lights always work. The flasher relay in in the rear of the frunk behind the instruments.

Remove the gages and you will see the other relays.

Brake lights should only work with key on.

Hazard/TS relay is behind the gas gauge/oil level about 4 inches. Its a black rectangular relay.

The relay on the fuse box is most likely the horn relay. You will have to check the wire colors and fuse location to verify.

Relay is in the trunk behind the dash at the top drivers side corner. It should be round/silver unless it's been changed. If so it would be a black rectangle.

Headlamp/flasher relay switch is #39 on my wiring diagram

There are two more relays in that location
blower/heater #48
cigarette lighter #49

Thanks guys...

My painter did this too me. I diagram all my wiring when I undo it...he kept the car for a year and then screwed me. My diagrams (amidst my anger) were either lost or made no sense. So horn relay up front, flasher relay behind the instruments. As the car was completely stripped, sand blasted and repainted...relays may need to have their connections evaluated for media debris. I have all tomorrow to evaluate. Hey at least I have running lights
I need to break in the new engine shortly...so for that 20 minutes I can use hand signals

So I pulled two relays

This guy

And it turns out I have a couple that are similar

And the other one looked like these...small pots

While I was trying to sort the headlights (also known as wasting perfectly good fuses),
The flasher stopped working. Weird as initially, the flasher was the only relay working.
Is the small round pot the flasher and the larger rectangular relay the headlight relay?

Trust me...no doubt about it, I am having fun

The flasher is a round pot and it has 5 posts underneath 86 87a 87 85 30

The top of these, if original, would be Wehrlo part #901.615.109.03

Bob, on my 1972 911 the flasher is the rectangle shaped relay. It has the same markings TBB3 96P2 2 x 21W as the bottom relay in Speedo's second photo. I understand this designation to be referring to the 2 x 21W turn signal Hella bulbs. I popped the clock out to double check and the rectangle relay is definitely the one that operates for the hazards, the handbrake warning light and the left/right turn signals. The round relay adjacent clicks when I operate the park lights, the first click when you pull out the headlamp knob. There is no high beam low beam relay in my 1972 911, something I plan to remedy. Soon.

I forgot to mention that mine is a 69. I figured all LWB were the same. This one ticks with the flashers operating in my car.
