lat Battery
When the battery is flat and you then obviously need to get into the bonnet to access the battery, how do you do it as I want to recharge the battery.
Thanks for any help. Phil Taylor |

Phil, that happened to me after I left my 996 in the garage for a few weeks without hooking up the battery to my trickle charger. I have a trickle charger called a Battery Tender. It comes with an adapter which I can plug into the cigarette lighter on the dash of the Porsche. I just used that port to charge the battery. I don't remember how long it took, but within a couple of minutes I was able to open the front baggage area. Now, I usually keep the battery charged with just using the "cigarette lighter" port. Hope this helps. Komac

There is an emergency release cable that runs from the trunk release towards/under the right front wing.
Sometimes you can just pop out the side marker light and see it/fish it out with a bent wire. If not then you will have to take the tyre off and remove the wing liner to access the cable. Depending on year there is also a red slide out terminal in the fuse box in the left foot well. Pull that out and hook an auxiliary power supply positive lead there, use the chrome door latch as ground. Then you can open the boot or engine cover with the switch. DO NOT try to jump start the car from this terminal!
