I am in the middle of changing out my coolant tank. It seems that I will have to lower the engine a few inches.
The car now is sitting on rubber ramps 8"-10" inches high so that I can get clearance and work under the car. I have read a lot about lowering the engine but I need one more clarification. Do I still need to support the vehicle with jack stands? Or I can lower the engine (unscrew mount nuts) while the car rests on its tires on these ramps. That's my confusing point right now. One of my friends said that I must support the car with jack stands. Is that true? Any info will be appreciated. |

No need for jack stands unless you're taking the wheels off... Just make sure it can't roll off the ramps (leave it in gear, apply parking brake and chock the front wheels - should be safe).

No need lowering the engine to change the coolant tank.(on GT3)
I've done this job easily in 3 hours , without problem. Just remove airbox , fuel filter and diagnostic plug & bracket.
