column switch replacement
Hello-I am thinking about replacing the column switch on a 1999. Right now it does not cancel the turn signal indicator after the turn is complete. After reading up on the procedure, I have several questions:
1. How does the cancel function work? Is there a piece of hardware on the shaft that triggers the cancel function that could be worn or missing? 2. Bentley says that you must reset fault memory after the proceedure. Can this be done with a Durametric unit or does it require a PWIS tool? Any help with this is very much appreciated! |

I just replaced mine with no "Fault memory" reset. After you pull the battery cable the airbag circuit is dead. Put the key in the tool box so that you won't be tempted to turn the key on while you have the airbag/steering wheel disconnected. In other words don't hook up the battery to test the switch until you are done.
You should not have any problems if you follow this vid. The cancel function: There is a spring loaded flipper in the SWITCH that rides on a plastic axle. The axle breaks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hux78ZoPcAI
