996 c2 transmission gear set
This is a bit of a cross post as I posted the original thread in the general 911 forum, but I am looking for a gear set for my c2 transmission to go with an upgraded ring and pinion and Guard LSD. I will be running a ls3 engine, ~500hp at the crank, and it will be a track car. I had hoped for a straight cut set, but can't find anything in that way. Would a stock set suffice or is there something else I can upgrade to while I have everything open?
Thanks for the help! |

Nobody has ever made straight cut gears for the G96/00 and G96/01 gearboxes. The only company ever to make special ratio gears was Albins and they stopped when they bought their ring and pinion machine.
As I said in the 911 forum it is a very strong gearbox. Like we've seen it against 700-800hp V8 engines strong. It just needs to be freshly rebuilt with good shifting parts and bearings. And when you do the ring and pinion, get a billet side cover from CMS. Ring gear deflection is what kills these gearboxes in highpower applications.
