Wheel bearing inner notched washer
Hi
Am currently trying to replace a shoyleft rear wheel bearing. And before o go further i need to establish a part in the back of the housing. You can see by oucs ot is a metal ring with a notch in it. This is the only washer type thing i can find on either side of whats left of the bearing. Ive removed the guts of it and not 100% on whether i should remove this notched ring or leave it there? And knock out the rest of the bearing using a punch placing it in the gap. I have a bearing sealer kit that i have modified to pull a bearing but this notched washer would seem to interfere (if thats what it is) with any sleeve i put over iy to exyracy the bearing case.. Any advice appreciated. I dont have access to a mobile mechanic due to where i am atm. Any advice or ideas on best way to procees will be appreciated. Cheers Rob. ![]()

I.m just looking at this setup, does anyone else have this type of sealing notched washer? Or is it perhaps part pf the bearing case? As when you see it up close the notch doesnt seem to go all the way through.. interesting . Ill measure the width of rhis against the bearing i bought if theire same width then all good will post back on results for if anyone in future has similar problem.

That race has to come out, you have only fought 1/4th of the battle. I'd suggest you get the proper puller, you don't want to damage the carrier.
