Sensible and cost effective 999TT mods
Howdy all. Had my 2004 996TT in for a check up as never seemed to get the turbos to get past about .6 bar, mechanic said turbos are in need of replacement at some stage which is surprising as car only has 65000 miles.
I thought this is the perfect time to explore adding different a couple of mods to enjoy the car even more. What are the most common upgrade packages around without spending stupid amounts of money? My understanding is that by changing the turbos to something a bit more modern, changing the exhaust set up and having a ECU remap that these cars can easily handle 500-550HP. Has anybody had any rescent experience or recommendations? Cheers all |

We have many different options for your 996TT. Give me a all to discuss.

They start out sensible and cost effective... but the slope is slippery. My most cost effective TT upgrades have been 997 shifter, Torque Solutions engine/trans mounts and Cobb Accessport. On the Turbochargers, I recommend a membership with Rennlist and/or 6speed. Many owners pursuing the 'next plateau' will be selling off larger-than-stock turbos, intercoolers, etc.

I just thought if I was going to have to spend a couple of grand to get my turbos rebuilt that I might as well see what options were out there to do at the same time. Maybe I'll just stick to standard if it's going to be an expensive hassle.

stock turbos work great with upgraded exhaust and a flash, or find a set of k24 aka gt2 turbos and enjoy a bit more power without still going crazy. The k24 set up will put you in the 500 awhp range, good enough for mid 11's at 120's, enough to cost you your license

What number do you expect from it? If it is a stock tune 415 hp engine .6 bar is it, .8 bar if X50. $ky$ the limit with a tune.
