Been watching this thread wth some enthusiasm. Good to see the Hou Peilcan contingent morphing from bunch of guys banging on their keboards to real people getting together in person. Too cool.

Unfortunately, I'm one of the victims of "other" obligations. My daughter and son-in-law are scheduled to give birth to my first grandson tomorrow afternoon (she's scheduled to start the "induction process " in about 15 minutes. Needless to say I'll be busy the next few days.

Some of you may remember Taylor from her "wedding photo" that I posted in 2007. She's one of us.

Hope y'all have a great time. Maybe next time.

Houston get together

Chuy's is only a few miles from where we are staying. If all goes well, I would love to join the party.

Sorry to butt-in, but I want ya'll to know that at Sat. 9AM the red 911 race car will be ready to attach the clutch to the transmission and the tools will be there to insert the engine into the car. Some of you were kind enough to visit whilst the engine was dropped. If you are interested you can be there to install it, too. Everyone else is welcome, just drop a PM for directions or I can post it somewhere. My goal is to have it running by the DE next weekend.

jjwood, when I first stated reading the thread I thought it was from Taylor. Oh well, your not too bad either.

If I can get everything ready and cook a birthday turkey for my dog (turning 15) then I will be at Chuy's, too.

I'll plan on being there at 9 I'll bring my jack again, and an extra torque wrench, and my Bentley's.

Sorry guys... won't be able to make this one... I'll be helping a friend install new hybrid turbos on his 996TT. Looking forward to the next GTG again. How about another coffee GTG in early Dec?

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

As luck would have it, my son is playing a water polo game at Lamar High School at 2PM tomorrow. It's right across the street and down a few blocks from Chuy's. So I can easily be there at 1PM tomorrow. If anyone wants to see the #4 water polo team in the state of Texas play against past Lamar water polo players, the game lasts about 1 hour.

2nd half is about to start and A&M is going to get a Texas sized stomping. They have to stomp A&M to get higher in the BCS rating, unless other coaches frown upon it. OU didn't seem to mind doing it to Tech.

The engine drop will start at 9AM on Saturday and last maybe until Sunday evening. It all depends on how easily it goes back together.

Cool, you got a pic before you left! We never seem to get that group shot.

It was great to see everyone.

I'm planning to make the Dec 7th autox in case anyone else can make it.

great seeing everyone. The food was fantastic and this was the first time my car has seen rain since I've owned it.....luckily she cleans up easily

I think we should try to make this a monthly event and rotate it around Houston.

My eardrums hurt from revving my engine so high with straight pipes in my garage. Thanks for all of the help. Too bad she wouldn't start before you guys left. I'll check out the clutch tomorrow.

It sounded like I would imagine it to be flooded. One cylinder started firing then two then three. I stopped and cranked again. One cylinder, then two then three quickly followed by 4th, 5th and 6th all together until the whole engine came alive. I'll take her out later this afternoon to test the clutch.

Thanks again guys.

I'm afraid this post will goto page 5. Oh well, we can always quote jjwood on the next page.

So I really raised the sound level in my neighborhood. I drove right through the expensive new development and passed a group of 6 kids playing in the street. Thumbs up and smiles were on their faces. Every adult looked up, but nothing on their faces. At least they weren't shaking their fists at me.

1st/2nd are not working, but 3rd/4th and 5th/Rev work. The forward and backward distances felt good. I will rotate the shaft a spline or two.

The engine sounded and felt great. The clutch seemed to engage, but I'm not used to starting in 3rd gear to compare it and I didn't get up to 4th gear speeds.

What worries me is that the rev meter is showing about 1/2 of the revs I'm used to hearing. So 3,000 rpms on the meter sound like 6000 rpms out the exhaust.
