How fast have you gotten your E30 up to?

Over the weekend i decided to test out the top end of my 325is for a laugh, So i took it out on a sparsely travelled california highway at 3 am.

My dad and i had removed the section of damaged cat and welded in a replacement section of pipe. This REALLY woke the car up on the top end.

Indicated Top speed at 6800 RPM = 148 MPH, this was on both the speedo and the OBC, however this may be off due to the tire size.

Here are some mods I have done

Dinan Chip
CAI
Free flow exhaust (cat removed)
Bilstein Sports front and rear with Eibach sport springs
205/60/14 front tires
215/55/14 rear tires (soon to be replaced with 205/60's)

test conditions...

91 octane gas with a can of Outlaw 104 ocatne boost
outside temp ... 61 degrees farhenheit, 79% humidity
34 psi in all tires
good level section of CA highway, Im not saying which one
radar dectector

130 on my car, but the guy who owned it before replaced the 3.73 rearend with a 2.92 out of an ES for better gas mileage! The car does
have a Dinan chip and a K&N element, but other than that other mods
are suspension. It felt like it hit a brick wall at 130.

Am getting the diff changed to a 391 next weekend.

But my 944 turbo with chip, exh, no cat and bigger turbo would do
175, but that's another life!

BMW Roundel

I always take the time to enjoy hitting the top speed of my car every once in a while. I think it keeps me sane. My '84 325e can max about 125 mph(ish) on flat land, but really it would go faster, because it keeps accelerating past that. I know the speedo's probably a little off, because I have 17'' rims, and Z rated tires, but my mod chip will be here soon, and then I'll hit 150! Ha! At least I wish!

Jeff, I live a little ways outside Portland. I live about 25 miles West of Portland, but commute in there almost every day! Why?
