Thumbs up Finally put on the M3 contours

Now that I finally have a bit of time in my schedule, I got to slap on my staggered set of 17s. I've always been a fan of the M3 Contour rims, they make the car look so much better compared to the bottle caps. I dont think i can ever go back to the stock bottle caps. My impressions - my car needs an alignment, it pulls to the left now. Other than that, the car rides surprisingly BETTER with 17s than with 15s. I dont know if it is because of the tires. I had Yokohama AVS intermediates 205/60/15 on my bottle caps, the Contours have 225/45/17 and 245/40/17 with Kumho Ecsta Mx. I must admit, I thought the AVS intermediates were great grippy tires. I'm absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the Kumho Mx. I've heard the Mx is comparable to the SO-3s, only much cheaper. I can certainly vouch that the Mx is a good contender.

The car stays firmly planted, the ride is much smoother, and overall I am in LOVE with the staggered setup. Theres less oversteer, just a hint of understeer, perfect for someone who isn't the best driver. I know I used to easily break the rears loose by giving it a little bit of throttle too early in a turn, now I can give it as much as I like. The drawback is that the steering is a bit heavier with more grip on the road. Anyways, here's some pictures

the rear wheel gap is now minimal, I can stick maybe 1 finger. The front gap has also shrunk, I used to be able to fit my fist. I think the rear is low because my shocks are blown. Anyways, hopefully by the end of summer, I'll have new springs and shocks, giving the car a more aggressive stance while increasing the handling capabilities.

The rear lips are simply beautiful.

stupenal, those look great!! Nice Ride! I was very impressed with kumho's also. I'm running 16" ecsta 712's on my E30. Alot of tire for the money. I have 20K miles on them showing very little wear. I think a set is in the near future for the E36.

Kumhos are a surprisingly good tire for the money. I've seen a lot of autocross guys running them.

Nice, I have the same on my 92 325i.
Currently I have Falkens on mine, but I have Kuhmos on my Corrado.
Great tires.

Eventually i plan on figuring out how to convert the 4 lug pattern on my E30 to 5 lug and running the contours. I think I'll have to go to the E30 m3 hubs.

Kumho Tires, aren't they the Samyeng Co? Aren't those kinda "Ricey"?
Sorry, I just had to. I just wish they made those wheels in 18's.
Looks great!

I love those Contours as well. Bought a set for mine, I think they are the best looking wheels for the E36 body. Ive put on Sumitomos with the staggered setup. Also replaced springs and shocks for originals on rear were blown out.

Ricey? I dunno what you mean by that? I do know that Kumho tires is really popular amongst the japanese import crowd mainly because of its great street/occasional track use for such a good price (ecsta 712s....). Btw, Kumho MX was rated one of the TOP, if not the best dry grip tire.

Oh yeah, these contours are SOLD! I should've held on a bit longer, there's so many people looking for contours right now I could've had an even better deal. So now I'm looking towards e46 rims (type 43s, 44s, or 45s!)

I was referring to the fact that they are made in Japan, only a joke. I had them on my 91 E30 convertible for 2 years and they never showed wear.

Actually, they are made in Korea...
but who cares, I love to have Michelin Pilots on my car , but with the coral rock that they put in the streets of south Florida, you would be lucky to get 10k miles out of them, at $200 each...I don't think so.
