evap code 1263 need help checking

I have a 97 m3 and did the obd1 conversion on it when I first finished the install I would get an intermittent light check engine light and now it is on constantly ( code 1263 evap control ). With the light on I am experiencing a higher rpm at idle, car seems to choke on accleration especially above 3000 rpm.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dan

I have the same code. Its been this way for over a year. I just found out today actually what it is...

SOMETIMES a bad gas cap will cause it. But what the real issue is, is the fuel purge valve. There is a solenoid that lets unburned fuel back into the engine to be reburnt. A non-functioning or mis-functioning purge valve can cause poor performance depending on when/if it opens.

I have similar 'choking' on acceleration when it is hot especially.

If you find out where to get the parts, other than the stealer, let me know please. Hope this helped.
