help getting abs light and lining light to go off.

When i bought the car, the guy just changed the battery and he said after he did this these lights went on. I have checked the linings and there is plenty of life left. So where do i begin? Thanks

I have the same problem. You may have to get a reset tool for them like you do for the oil change light. I'm not 100%sure about that; but that's what I was told when I bought my 89 3-series. My lights are on too; and the heck with paying for the dealer to reset them for me. The lights may even go out on their own in a few miles; sometimes the computer has to be run for a while to reset stuff like that after the battery's disconnected. I'd call the local BMW service dept and ask a techie over the phone. Those guys are usually pretty helpful.

Check the wires

I just changed my strut carts, and after the wires on the left side rubbed against the tire. It broke both wires and then both these lights went on. I soldered them and then they went off. The brake lining wires can just be soldered together. You should check your brakes manually and not rely on the light.
