Conversion questions

I've never explored the possibilities before but I've got a 95 325iA with about 205,000 KM and i'm begining to think about some upgrades or a new car.

To get to the point, what kind of work and money is involved in swaping a stock 325 engine for an M3 engine of aproximatly the same year?

While I was at it, i'd have to switch to a standard transmission, is this even possible? If so, what kind of money /work would be involved. I konw how easy it is to swap engines in Porsches, so I thought I'd try my hand at a Bimmer.

Any thoughts are welcome, but seeing as I'm also considering just buying an M3, lets stay away from the 'just buy an M3' responses as this is obviously something i'm investigating.

Major reason for not 'just buying an M3' is insurance... it's bad enough as it is here in the land of bacon and beavers (Canada EH!)

Oh yeah, and hello to all you on the BMW board! this is my first post here, but i've been with the Porsche board for a quite some time!

Thanks in advance guys, see you around!

Adam
