adhesive for script
I recently took my ' 84 318i apart to paint it. Painted it, put it back together except for the "318i" on rear trunk. It apparently is glued on directly to painted surface. The adhesive looks like a small rectangle of black sound-deadener. Is/was very sticky. Does anyone know what this adhesive is or where to obtain it. A suitable replacement would be fine.
I have managed , with the help of some people on this forum. to defeat all mechanical ghosts so far. Really enjoying driving!! thanks, Jan

I am pretty sure it is supa-dupa double sided tape... I wouldn't bother sourcing it yourself since you need so little... just stop into a body shop to see if they can help ya out with it.

adhesive for script
thanks 'Dub-Dub'. Most likley the best way to handle this small issue. I didn't want to use some sort of glue that would melt the paint and thus also weaken the bond on the script to trunk lid

adhesive for script
For what it's worth--Black RTV worked great. RTV in this application has a great potentiol to cause a mess. Applying sparringly to script then smoothing out (leveling rtv adhesive) to obtain a flat surface, prevents excess from ozing out from under script upon application to trunk lid.
