Differential Question

is it ok to drive my car if i didn't screw the bolts that goes on top of the diff.... cause there's 4 bolts two towards the front and two on top... i kinda striped the thread on the top and can't screw the bolts in.. is there any tool that can fix the thread that i messed up?

Im confused, you say you were re-installing the diff cover and you stripped out the threads that hold the cover on?

no i was changing the springs and shocks on the rear of my car. and i followed the tech article on this site for the uninstall and install of the springs and shocks for the rear but instead of just loosening the bolt and nut on the bushing i loosen everything that holds the differential to lower that thing down. after i changed the springs and shocks on my car and im ready to put everything back... i forced the screw to fit in the hole that goes on top of the differential not the cover but the two bolts that holds the differential (i think that bolt is attacehd to the cross member) adn stripped the thread on the differential. now i cant get the bolts to fit in it because the thread was loose.... i cant even force it to fit because there's no room to do it. but i still installed the bolt and nut that goes through the bushing and the two bolts that was near the driveshaft that holds the diff... hope this explains better.. thanks

Sorry to break it to you, but the whole differential has to come out, you need to dril out the holes and heli-coil them..

There's a reason you wedge the diff down rather then loosen these.

You should probably take it to a machine shop. They're going to have to cut a new set of threads. Unless you've got a lot of experience in fabricating, this is a job for the pros.
