Outer door handle doesn't work

Something broke off inside the door and fell to the bottom of the door interior. Now my outer door handle doesn't work, just free pulling with no door latch connection, I assume it is just some plastic piece inside, Anyone ever seen this before? or is it a DIY job?

Thanks in advance

Ouch!,

Haberman, Do you have a Bentley manual? These are great and can take the mystery out of most jobs. I've been using one on my Porsche for years and will get one soon for the BMW. They run around $70 but are a wise investment.

Ack!!! Haberman, did you already have the stealership do the work? Replacing a door handle is a pretty simplistic replacement. If you did just break the pull handle, it is a bolt out/bolt in replacement. Ugh... it's always the little things they nail you on.

The again, if something actually broke on the door-jam lock mechanism, that could be a more pricey replacement. I guess you would have had to have taken a look inside the panel. Could you still open the door from the inside (if you could, that's a good indicator that it is just the handle that broke).

Hey Jared, do you guys supply the internal door lock micro switch for the window drop and dome light for the 'is' and 'ic' models? It's the one that goes into the lock mechanism.
