Thumbs down trunk problem.....

I have an '87 BMW 325 and I actually couldn't tell you when it happened but the trunk is now locked and remains locked. When I would actually use the trunk, the one key I have always did the trick and now it doesn't do anything....actually it only works on the drivers side, not the passenger side or on the trunk. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Does the lock cylinder turn or is it jammed?

It's able to be pushed in and that's about it, the key doesn't seem to want to go in as far anymore either. I just don't know how or why it locked, or how to go about getting it unlocked. I never locked it, it's lost on me.

So the key wont go in all the way? Did you try putting some WD40 in there?

Tried the WD40 to no avail, well so far at least unless it works it's way in farther eventually. The lock is still in it's outward position and does nothing when I push it in(which used to open it before this). And as I stated before the key won't go in. Blast it.

...oh yeah and I can't unlock the passenger side door unless the doors are unlocked already and I lock it from the passenger side and then again unlock....or is that normal?

On my e30, when I lock from the driver's side and I turn the key an additionnal ¼ turn, everything (the trunk, the pass. door, etc.) is locked and I can't unlock anythink even with the door knob unless I undo this ¼ turn!!

It's a normal feature and I know this mecanism has a tendency to fail. It is possible that in Dudemar's car, the "special lock" feature is activated without having to do the ¼ turn.... that would be my guess.

I don't think it is, it works fine otherwise. Key just won't go in all the way, and I don't even know how or why it locked, I never locked it. It's definitely something I'd like to get taken care of.
