Check engine light code question.

My check engine light won't flash codes. I have the 173 ECU. I have checked the throttle cable for adjustment and its fine. I have tried depressing the gas pedal 5 times, but no go. I also tried this from the engine compartment just to make sure it was opening right to the end, and it does, but still no flashing of codes.
My friend's 88-325is (same manufacture date as mine 3/88) flashed codes after doing the gas pedal thing.
This is making me crazy!! What else can I do to find out why its not flashing codes??

thanks
dan

Same here, the check light just stays on. What's the deal with that?
