Help changing hood shocks
Did a search and came up empty. Can anyone help me replace my old hood shocks? I can't figure out how to get the old ones off. I imagine I'm making it harder than it is...
TIA

My 97 M3 was super easy to change the shocks. From what I remember (two months ago) there is a clip on the lower mount point that slides up. Can't remember if the top had a clip or not. I can't remeber if I used a flat head or needle nose pliers to remove the clip. Look at the new shock to see how it works.
Use a pair of vice grips on the shock shaft opposite the one you are working on to hold the hood up. Get the grips fairly tight the shaft, it is pretty durable.

Jared, yes this is for the 323.
Jeron, I'll check those again when I get home. As I recall, when I looked at them this past weekend, I didn't notice a clip that seemed easily removeable. Actually, I was planning on having my son act as a hood support. He has some labor he owes me!!

Jared, I think you are right.
I pryed a little with a screwdriver to take them off, but putting them on I definately remember that they just popped on, because the clip just slides over the stud. Make sure you are careful with any tools you use because although the mounts are in the engine bay they are dangerously close to the top of the exposed fender. You could easily scratch your paint with a slipped tool. BTW, Pelican had BY FAR the LOWEST price for hood shocks of any of the 5 suppliers I found.
