1994 325 heater preblem
My 94 325 convertible has a problem with the heater. I get no heat. The air conditioner works. Any suggestions or ideas? I appreciate any replies as it has gotten unususaly cold in San Diego.

Does the engine reach normal operating temperature? Have you checked that there is no heat from any of the vents, not just the dash vents? Is there any chance that the coolant system has air in it?
The problem in probably the heater valve. It could also be the wiring and components actuating the heater valve. The heater valve is in the engine bay against the fire wall.

No There is no heat from any of the vents. Yes it does reach normal temperature. How can I check for air in the coolant? Can some one post a picture of the heater valve and how I find out if it is faulty?

If your coolant hasn't run low or leaked then it probably does not have air in it but... Bleeding the air out of the cooling system is covered here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/techarticles/E36-Coolant_Flush/E36-Coolant-Flush.htm
The heater valve is in the engine bay against the fire wall on the drivers side. You will see a set of hoses running into the cabin. Near the hoses will be the valve. It will have two hoses comming out of it and look like a big contact lense case. Two circles side by side vertically. There should be a connector on the valve. I would remove the connector and test for voltage with the heater on and off to diagnose an electrical problem vs. a valve problem. I assume you the blower is working and the engine isn't overheating. Your ONLY problem is the air isn't heated right?
