Central locking system

Is there a way to disconnect the central locking system? Last month my drivers door started acting up requiring me to push on the door in order for it to lock... and now I cant get my trunk lock to work. Its a 1994 325is. Thanks!!

You can easily remove the connections at the buttons.

I'm not sure what you are asking? What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to prevent someone from using the cetral locking system or fix it?

Thanks for the reply. The entire system is acting up so I was just wondering if I can disable the central locking system entirely and just use the key to open and close the locks?? At this point, my trunk doesnt even latch closed!

It looks like there is a fuse for it but I dont know the ramifications of pulling it. It's worth a shot, try it.

So you think the trunk wonth latch because the central locking is holding the latch open? You could disconnect the wiring from the actuator at the latch.

For the doors, you should be able to disconnect the system that detects key position. That would prevent the system from activating.

Whats the word on fixing one lock in the entire central locking sequence? When I lock my drivers door, the other door & trunk lock as designed. However, when I lock the trunk or passenger door, the driver door does not lock. I've always assumed there is something bad on the driver door lock, but don't know the logisics. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the actuator on the drivers door is bad. It works when you lock it with the key because it is the key turning that is moving the lock but it wont lock from other locations because the actuator isnt working.

I've never replaced one but it cant be that hard. I would pull the panel first and check to make sure it isnt an electrical issue first. Test the wires at the actuator for voltage while you activate the actuator.

Try locking/unlocking using the passenger door. If the driver door lock still does not operate properly (but the trunk does), then I'd say it is the driver door actuator. I replaced mine last month. About a one hour job. A little longer if you have a side air bag. Here's a link that describes the procedure.
