318ti overheating
hi all.
just joined and like what i see so far. my question is: '97 318ti has new: radiator hoses fan head gasket any suggestions on what can still be causing the overheating? i am thinking it could be one of the many: themostat timing running rich any suggestions? thanks nick |

I would look at the thermostat first pull it out and stick it in a saucepan. throw in a thermometer and wait and see what temp it opens up at.
check if there is any built up crudd between the A/C condenser and the radiator. Leaves and grass, all kinds of road debris can get caught in there restricting airflow. Always check the simple things first, it's often the cause. Luke.

I swear I responded to this a couple of hours after it was posted. Weird...
1) Make sure you bleed the system, it is THE most common cause. 2) When does it over heat? At idle, while driving under 40mph, while driving over 40mph
