I need a toolkit for a 1983 320i 5speed. The factory one was missing when I got the car. What do I need to carry in the car?
Thanks! :-)

If you're looking to restore the tools in the trunk-mounted toolkit, you can find most of them at the Bavarian Autosport site (www.************). From the main text in the home page, click on the "enter the year and model" link, enter your car's year and model, and then click on the "Tools, Manuals & Fluids" link in the left navigation column, and drill down to "tools".
Most of the ones from the original kit will be listed somewhere on that page, but not being familiar with the toolkit for an '83 320i, I can't tell you exactly which ones you need. However, the site does label them "for factory trunk mounted tool kit" where applicable. Typically, they include Channel Lock Pliers, Spark Plug Wrench, Screwdriver(s), Emergency Window Crank, Spark Plug Wrench Pin, and a few monkey wrenches like 8mm-10mm, 12mm-13mm, etc. Take a good look at the molded bed of the tool tray and that should help you inventory what you need. I took a quick snapshot of my tray with a digital camera to figure out what I needed, and the only piece I haven't found yet is the largest wrench, which I think is 15mm-16mm or 16mm-18mm; for some reason, it's not on their site. Hope that's helpful. Good luck.

Now THAT's the ticket. I highly recommend you follow Steve's lead and bid on that ASAP. You could probably get it for far less than buying the pieces individually, AND it includes the 17x19mm wrench; just make sure you keep your max low enough to make it worth your while. Don't forget to factor in the $14.00 shipping price (compare it to what BavAuto would charge you).
Good luck.
