1989 325i stopped blowing heat
The first problem with the smoking has been solved. Bill took the fuel injectors from the new motor off and put my old ones on. Now she purrs like a kitten.
Here's the new problem: Radiator is over heating. Yesterday I purchased a new thermostat and Bill installed it. No change. Today I purchased a new water pump and Bill installed it. No change. A few minutes ago he came in for a coffee and said she was blowing heat from the heater vents. When he went back out to the garage she was blowing cold again. What is going on now.

Usually air in the cooling system. The E30 has an bleeding system I am not familiar with but I think we have discussed it on this forum before.

Jeron,
Thank you for the answer. That's the same thing I heard yesterday from one of the guys I work with. He said there is a procedure to go thru, so now I just have to find the bleeding directions. I'm off to post my next problem. Sandy

The E36 bleed is here but I think your is different:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/techarticles/E36-Coolant_Flush/E36-Coolant-Flush.htm I think some E30 (M3's probably) had a bleed screw on the thermo housing.

copied from another thread i posted in..
You need to purge the air from the cooling system. It's a pain in the ass, and takes a bit of time to get all the air out. There is a small bleeder screw on the top of the thermostat housing. Open it with the engine running, and keep it open until all the air escapes and straight coolant starts flowing through. |
