Stall on highway
Hi guys,, i had a quick question i was driving on the highway when i got to a 2 lane bridge the car engine died i was stranded in the middle, it suucked..
I got it towed home and i try to start it it catches a little bit the first time i try to start it then no luck afterward the engine just turns.. I smell gas from the exsuast pipe... so i think fuel sys is ok... If i leave it over night and try to start it again it kind of catches then dies out just bare seems like a few cyl's fire then goes off.... its a 1992 325is checked battery it was charged and ok... i'm a bit hooped without my car have been wanting to go back home for a while and can't any help would be apreceated on what could the problems be.. |

Despite the smell of gas, I would check the fuel pump. This happened to me. Fuel pump died but after it had cooled down for about half an hour the engine would start but misfire and then die again. New fuel pump fixed problem.
You may also want to replace ECU and fuel pump relays. Could also be source of immediate problem and, if they are the original relays, will probably be the source of new problems. Hope this helps. |

Could also be cam or crank sensor .
