Question Ignition failed - going keyless - 99% there - need help!!!!!

ETA - 1993 325i...

OK - Friday, my car kept running after I pulled the key out - we all know that story. Bad ignition, several hundred dollar fix at the stealer...

I decided to go to a pushbutton start. I used the DIY Z8 push button thing as a guide, along with some other threads.

I have also disabled the wheel lock.

Current status - SO CLOSE! But the engine won't "catch"...

What I have done -

1. Cut and bypass the "accessory" wire (purple) - supplied power from red wire through a 12V/30A four pin relay, controlled but an on/off switch.

2. Cut and bypass the "run" wire (green) - supplied power from red wire through a 12V/30A four pin relay, controlled but an on/off switch.

3. Cut and bypass the "ignition" wire (black/yellow) - supplied power from red wire through a 12V/30A four pin relay, controlled but an momentary switch.

Procedure -

1. Flip accessory switch. Radio, OBC, etc turn on.

2. Flip run switch. Car makes appropriate noises.

3. Press start button - starter turns, but engine doesn't catch. Upon pushing the starter, it appears everything is killed. I have to turn the acc/run switches off and then back on to try again...

ANY thoughts would be very appreciated - I'm dead in the water until I get this figured out..

FWIW, I have a bentley manual *in storage*...

PLEASE let me know what you think the issue could be!

Only thing I can come up with right now is a weak ground? But the way I have the ground tapped in, I would expect it to be fine.

checked fuses and battery this morning... all good to go.

That said, there are three small wires that go to the ignition that I haven't done anything with -

thin blue/white

thin green/white

thin brown

I'm guessing one (or all three) of these do something important, like turn on the fuel pump?

I ran power back to the ignition to see if it would work with the main three bypassed, but no go.

Any idea what those three little guys do??? And how they might need to be connected to make this rig work?

Thanks -

Paul
