Help with OBD II code FD

I am getting from time to time a check engine light on my 1998 (E36) M3. The code is FD for chart 16 "EVAP shut off valve stuck closed". Anyone have any information on what valve this is? Part number, location, description, anything would help. I've looked in the Bentley manual and studied the RealOEM diagrams, but can't figure it out.

Thanks!
Scott

Probably the evaporative recover canister under the spare tire. It captures gas vapors as the fuel in the tank expands. I get an EVAP code about once a year, reset and ignore it.

I've never bothered to look it up before but here ya go its #2:

Thanks Jeron,

I found it and pulled out the valve. It looked pristine, but I sprayed it with some silicone spray. I live at high altitude and can easily change altitude by 2000' or more in a drive. I wonder if pressure changes in the canister make it think the valve is shut.

The system's purpose is to handle pressure changes such as those.

How often does it do it?
