What it for? Need some idea about this.

Help Please

FYI: my car is a right-hand steering

Thanks lot in advance

George

Edit 1:
It’s an M42 motor, automatic transmission

Engine just off or rattle on low and idle speed after abrupt stop on high rev once awhile w/o any engine check light on, I just realized that. There is no ‘Check Engine’ light at all. When go to the mech it will be good for awhile and sooner or later it will happened again even replacing w/ a brand new ICV. Recently, I replace the MAF then it gone, run good now.

It doesn’t respond to carsoft

It looks like somone is using this things resistance to fool the DME.
I would check the resistance of it first. Then see if I could locate it's location on the DME plug.
If you figure out it's pin asignments, you can figure out what it is, or was, or needs to be.
Is the cover missing?
If so get one. The DME can get wet even with one in place. you don't have a chance without one.

Thanks for your comment.

The cover ain’t missing though. Let’s forget this DME, I got another one, used, already. I think I’m going to locate the pin of that weird aluminum thing hooked up, next weekend, first. I just was wondering can I just throw it away.

Thanks again

George

If it was OBD-II I would have guessed an O2 sensor bypass.

Can you trace the circuit and figure out which pin it goes to?

noop! it's an M42 OBD1.

by the way, there is no reason to bypass the O2. If the O2 broken it just don't send any signal to the dme.
