1995 m3 starting problem

Hi all,

I have 1995 bmw m3 automatic tranny. Late build date 9/95. Has a starting problem? Sometimes it starts & sometimes it doesn’t? It will turn over then just stop turning over during starting. Then try again & it starts just fine? Tested the lead on starter thats energized in start position. Test light goes out when the problem occurs. Tells me power is being cut during starting. Intermittent problem. I have the wiring diagram & there are two possibilities. Gear selector switch & starter immobilization relay. I look under steering column/speaker kick panel drivers side where the starter immobilization relay should be but nothing there?? Can someone help? Does my car have this relay or only the gear selector switch? All help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Dante

Could also be the ign cylinder in the column, a relay, brake pedal switch or "P" sensor on the tranny.
