I have checked relay and am getting 12 v i have jumped relay and am getting 12v to the pump but when i turn key on i am not hearing anything out of pump no buzz or whirr nothing. My question, is there anything else that could make that pump not work. Or is it the pump has failed.

Thanks for the help

Sometimes when they fail they will hang and you can free them temporarily by tapping on them. Also, you can pull the pump and power it to test the function.

Thumbs up Have learned from experience, recently!!!!!

The problem that you are having is what I just went through on with my 1990
325is. Did everything that you did and then finally pulled the pump out and checked it outside the car. I had a time gettting the pump assembly out because I did not remove the level sending unit first.......This can be accomplished by taking the battery out of the car, some wire and the pump.......you will need someone to hold the pump while you touch the wires from the battery to the pump contact points. Be sure to have the polarity right..............when I did this I could tap on the pump and it would run for a minute then stop............buy a new pump assembly from these guys, it is a direct replacement and well worth the money when you are stranded on the side of the road.................good luck
