Knock sensor code 1226
On my 95 M3 E30 swap I have been driving the car for a few months with no codes. I needed to have the Vanos unit changed as it was noisy. After getting the car back from the shop, before leaving the shop, the CEL comes on and they check it. Code 1226, rear knock sensor. I installed all new sensors when I did the swap. Do the knock sensors go bad? I checked the tightness of the bolt and it was fine. Checked the harness connection, it was OK.
I clear the code and upon startup it is fine. But if I even try to give it gas it will come back on.
Any insight would be appreciated.
