starting issues
Hi there,
'88 325is. I did some mostly tune-up work on a recently acquired e30. It was starting previously, but ran very very rough. I'm stuck on one problem. The fuel pump functions fine when I jump it at the relay. However, it does not run when I go to start. The engine cranks and cranks. Second thing, even when I have a pal to jump the pump, I go to start still with no success. So I want to determine why the fuel pump is not receiving a signal from the ECU when I go to start. Once I can figure that out, I'll go from there. Any ideas? The relays seems to work and I switched the o2 and pump relay just to double check. |

My guess is the crank shaft position sensor. If the ECU doesnt sense the engine turning it wont fire the pump or the engine.
