chrome window trim

can anyone give some advice as to bring the shine back to the chrome or maybe it's brushed alluminum, window trim?? mothers metal polish dosen't even phase them. and please don't say shadow line them, i'm old school and happen to think that the chrome look, looks great on a black e30.

That stuff's not chrome. It's anodized aluminum. Normal polishing won't do much to it. You have to remove the anodizing and then polish (which dooms you to frequent repolishing), or have it professionally redone. That's way down on my list of things to do, but it's there.

Nice looking car, BTW. Good on you for keeping the trim stock-looking.

love the stock look on black e30's. new chrome winshield strips coming too. strugling with wether or not to tuck the db's. i know it looks better but then it's not stock stock.
