codes on codes

ive got a cam position sensor code a crank position code and a stuck vanos code

i was told to replace the wiring to those sensors and then see about the vanos after that has been replaced i did the head gasket about 3 weeks ago it runs and idles fine just low rpm hesitation any other suggestions

Replacing those wires would be a chore. If it runs and idles fine, I would not be immediately concerned about the crank position sensor code if there is no physical damage to the wire. The shielding on that wire has to be intact though. Damaged shielding on the wire can let electrical interference into the signal, and the computer does not like that.

I would inspect all I could see of the wire to the cam position sensor, and check its resistance between the sensor plug and the computer if you can. If you don't find a problem with the wire, replace that sensor because failing cam position sensors are not unusual.

I would not tear into the VANOS until I eliminated other problems unless I suspected that I had damaged it while doing other work. The VANOS is a sensitive piece of hardware with small oil passages in it. A little spec of dirt can cause big problems.

i ended up resetting the vanos i installed it improperly when doing the head gasket and changing the the cam and crank sensors all is good now no more hesitation and bogging the month long battle with the engine light is done and i came out on top lol
