just replaced the engine in my 93 318 is , im having problems with my temp gauge, it doesnt work. changed the sensor, still not working, upper radiator hose is hot ,lower hose is cold, im thinking sensor should still work if thermostatis stuck closed, any ideas?i have bled the radiator twice now. fuses in engine compartment all good. thanks

Usually if you unplug the sensor electrical connector the gauge should move all the way in one direction. Then ground the wire you've unplugged and the gauge should move all the way in the other direction. This is how you check for a bad gauge
