Hi guys! I have a 2006 323i. If I keep the RPMs above 1k the car runs fine. But if the car's RPMs fall below 1k the engine light comes on and it retards the engine so it can only be limped along. Pulling over and shutting the car completely off resets the degraded engine light and it will stay off until the RPMs fall below 1k again. I recent had the plugs done in the car to fix a stutter when accelerating and roughly a month later it started doing this. Any thoughts on whats wrong or where to start? I should also mention the weather here when it started doing this is -25 to -30 celcius.the car is warmed up by being held at an idle slightly above 1k.

COuld be a vacuum leak or an engine misfire. I would start by checking the DME for fault codes. If the system is not working properly, a fault code will be set. This will be your best bet when diagnosing.
