Hi Pelican,
I have a 95 M3. My temperature gauge was running cold sporadically, so I decided to replace the thermostat. I ordered and installed both the plastic housing and the thermostat 88 deg. C, through 11/95, but the temperature gauge is exhibiting the same behavior as before. The car will warm up and the gauge will line up in the middle, but after awhile, the needle will drop down to cold and sometimes back up again. My mechanic mentioned that there could be a temp sensor malfunctioning. Could this be possible? Any advice would be much appreciated! Could be the temp sensor in the cylinder head. When the gauge drops to cold, is then engine temp still warm?
