Question Changing rotors

Since the tech article isn't posted yet, I'll throw it out to the group. I need to change the rotors on my 91 318is. Lookinig at the Haynes manual, it doesn't look like a bad job. Am I kidding myself? Any tips?

From what I can tell, its pretty straightforward.

BMW Roundel rotors

Brake pads and rotor replacements are a good first project. All you need is a little mechanical ability. Make sure you replaced the allen screws that hold your rotors to the hub with new ones and use a little antiseize grease on them. Also be prepare for the one that won't come off easy and you end up stripping the head. if that happens don't worry go to Napa and get there screw extractor pack (10.00).drill the biggest hole you can inside the thread diameter and then turn the extractor you'll have it out in no time.

Exactly what mcanales said, changing rotors is very easy. You'll have to remove the calipers before you remove the small allen screws, however.

wayne:

Yes, I may be inheriting another e30. My buddy at the detail shop owes me for some art and may give me a 318i as payment.

This might be a good big motor (b50 from a newer vintage e36) swap project. What do you think?
