I like to use either Wenol or Blue Magic on chrome stuff. I once bought a rusty, pitted, UGLY 4 into one exhaust for my old Honda 750 at a junkyard, and Blue Magic made it look like new, no joke! It jus took a lot of time and elbow grease. Blue magic is more of a abrasive chrome cleaner while Wenol is a non-abrasive that lifts dirt out of the chrome.

Any good auto parts store will sell Blue Magic. It comes in a small blue jar.

Those metal polishes might be a little too aggressive for the plastic headlight cover. (Are you talking about a bit that surrounds the headlight, or that goes in front of it?)

You might want to try toothpaste, believe it or not... Many or most of them contain a very mild polish.

pretty cheap?!?! Aren't ellipsoids around $350?? I dont find that cheap considering you shouldnt really even have to replace your headlights on most cars!! Unfortunately, american cars always get the shaft with plastic headlights. I know for the nissan 240sx 1995-1998 (s14) also had plastic headlights which would fog up while the jspec counterpart had glass headlights.

As for the foggin/pitting, people have recommended to sand down the headlights with a fine grit sandpaper, then to apply 3m cut/scratch removing compound and the to clear coat/wax to protect it. However, others just use metal polisher for pots and pans. I have yet to do it to mine, i'm not sure which metal polisher to get. The toothpaste idea sounds great too. However, people claim that you'll need to reapply teh stuff maybe once a month and to just get the ellipsoids (glass euro style) instead to save hassle.

Ellipsoids also improve the beam and makes it much brighter. You can also do the Daylight Demon Eye conversion/angel eyes just like the new 5 and 7 series.
