BMW Roundel Trunk Mounted Tool Kit

I'm the second owner of my '97 328is, & the trunk mounted tool kit was stripped when I bought it. Does anyone know what tools & part numbers coinside with that year & model? Also, where would be the best place to obtain them, I've searched on-line & couldn't find anything.

My mom's 98 328is has a tool kit in a plastic panel on the inside of the trunk lid. Inscrew the knob and it folds down. Inside are formed compartments for the following tools:

2 open-end wrenches; 8x12 and 10x13mm (I think it was)
1 Z-shaped Allen key
Bent-end pliers (mini channel-locks)
Screwdriver with slot and Phillip's bits
Locating pin or punch, about 6" long with 1/4" end
Towing eye
Something missing which is about 10"-12" long and maybe 1/2" thick

I don't know what the pin or punch is for (brake pad replacement?) and I don't know what the long instrument that is missing would be. The lug wrench is separate and lives over on the right, on top of the battery cover. The tool compartment holds onto the tools quite well, and it even labels the sizes of the wrenches which is pretty cool.

I don't know if the 97 used the same setup as the 98, though. I hope this helps.

Pics on request, though I can't post them until Monday at the earliest.

1997 328i part #s for the tools are as follows. I'm pretty sure they are the same for your car. I assume that you have the plastic tool box.

Water pump pliers: 71 11 1 179 522
(2) Open end wrenches: 71 11 1 112 893 & 71 11 1 126 148
Spark plug wrench: 71 11 1 180 680
Pin: 71 11 1 093 774
Screwdriver: 71 11 1 179 629
Emergency tool electric window/sliding roof (aka allen key): 54 12 1 873 572
Towing hinge: 72 15 8 119 188

BMW parts department is the only one that I know that would carry those parts, but you might want to try some of the online BMW parts outlets.

Try eBay:

Or a junkyard with a wrecked 3-series...

My wifes 96 328is is slowly becoming a race car. She probably would part with hers.

The pin or punch as you call it is an alignment tool when installing the wheel onto the hub. You stick the plastic end into the hole so you won't mess up the threads.

Give me a call at 1-800-777-5508 and I can get you everything you need for your rear toolbox. You really don't want to be without some basic tools in the car. Ask for Al.
