It's not the adhesive but the cheap foam on the pad that breaks down with heat and time that will cause your pad to sag regardless of what adhesive you use. You may notice how the old deteriorated foam is still stuck to the adhesive when you remove the old pad.

I'm thinking of drillng and installing those black plastic buttons that hold up hood blankets on normal everyday generic cars as a permanent fix.
