Im a little confused here as to what exactly was rude as well.

You might want to try filling the res up with acetone and letting it sit overnoght, however, I'm not sure exactly how the reservoir will react with the acetone. I would try rubbing a little on the outside in an inconspicuous spot, and see if the material reacts, other than that, I think you are really just better off buying a new reservoir.
