It was a refurbished machine to begin with and I've had it for at least 9 years. I did notice that it was missing an unimportant screw when I took it apart.
The real problem was the main group had become clogged. According to many, these need to be taken apart and cleaned about every two-three years. I bought the first one in 2007. It has about 30,000 shots. And I think it went in for service once.
