Thank you for the tip and for posting the link, I wasn't able to track it down earlier...

I did read a comment by John Walker in my searching where he suggested using a piece of electrical heat-shrink tubing over rubber lines to cover cracks etc... I don't know that this would work over severely cracked and deteriorated hose, but I may try this first as it's cheap and my hoses are just beginning to show their age.
